Spring Escape

I traveled back to my boyfriend’s high school days. He had been beaten bloody, his hands trembling as he reached for a steamed bun on the ground.

I told him:

“I am your future wife.”

He pressed his bloodless lips together. “Then… tell me you love me. Tell me you’ll never leave me.”
