Sending Brocade Letters

My fiancé spent three years away at war.

I wrote him countless letters.

They ranged from trivial household matters to tender words of love.

When he returned victorious, he brought a woman back with him.

In disbelief, I asked, “Didn’t you say you would marry me as soon as you came home?”

My fiancé’s face turned cold as he told me to stop pestering him.

But then a strong, powerful arm reached out from behind me and swept me up onto a horse.
