Myun’s Shadow

Taydan spoke gently and reached out his hand, but once again, Hebe stepped back to avoid him. Tayden’s hand lingered in the air.

“The nightmare you had today must have been… truly terrifying”, Taidan said quietly.

His lowered eyes were cold. After being rejected several times just today, it was understandable for him to feel upset. Until yesterday, Hebe had stayed still whenever he touched him.

Even though it was spring, the forest at midnight was bitterly cold. Perhaps Tayden’s violet eyes were now carrying a chill that made it feel even colder. When Hebe shivered slightly, Tayden immediately reacted.

“This won’t do. Hebe, you should head back to the capital first. I’ll bring Myangmyang with me.”

“Let’s go back together.”

“Then should I hold you until Myangmyang arrives?”

“What are you talking about?”

“They say there is nothing warmer than human body heat.”

Hebe narrowed his eyes. If this had been a battlefield, he would have readily accepted. But knowing that Tayden loved him, he sensed ulterior motives in his suggestion.

“Quit messing around and go get Myangmyang quickly.”

“Did you just say I was messing around?” Taidan’s eyes widened as if he had heard something completely unexpected. His gaze wavered, and Hebe instinctively stepped back.

“Y-yeah. You were trying something with me, weren’t you?”

“How did you…?” Tayden’s voice trembled.

“How did you even know I was trying something? You’re never that perceptive.”
