Synopsis
After the government assigned me a pair of Beastman brothers as my mates, I made it a habit to prepare two glasses of milk every night.
The older brother was cold and aloof, yet he would always accept the glass politely and offer a soft word of thanks.
The younger brother, however, had a volatile temper. He often smashed the glass and lashed out at me with harsh words.
I believed I was treating them both equally, balancing the scales with seamless precision.
That was until my best friend happened to witness it. She hesitated for a moment before speaking up.
“Don’t you think that your version of ‘fairness’ is actually quite unfair to the one who behaves?”
I spent the entire day reflecting on her words and realized she was right.
That night, I walked out of the kitchen carrying only one glass of milk.
