The Heartthrob Refuses to Be Conquered

Synopsis
Jian Qing is the protagonist of a poorly concluded suspense novel.
Uncontrollable charm is part of his setting, given by the author. Being obsessively pursued by the second male lead, third male lead, and countless others is his fate.
The most troublesome part is that there are also many so-called “players” — men and women with systems — who transmigrate into bodies, trying to steal his protagonist luck.
Fortunately, Jian Qing is well aware of this.
For the Nth time, after subduing a deranged admirer who tried to drag him into death with him, Jian Qing neatly disarms him, straightens his suit, and just as he’s about to call the police, he sees a smiling face:
“Hello, Major Crimes Unit consultant He Linfeng.”
“How can I help you?”
On his first day in B City’s Major Crimes Unit, He Linfeng hears Jian Qing’s name from several colleagues.
Threats, kidnappings, corpse dumping… People around him keep dying. Victim and suspect — this President Jian keeps switching roles, yet somehow walks out of the police station clean every time.
He Linfeng becomes interested.
One day, while buying furniture, he runs into a knife attack at a mall. He watches the refined “victim” move before he can act — dodging, kicking, and pinning the attacker down with one knee.
The blade cuts across the young man’s cheek.
Blood splashes onto gold-rimmed glasses.
In that instant, his heartbeat bursts like fireworks. He Linfeng steps forward eagerly, only to be met with a cold, disgusted glance:
“Whoever you are…”
“Stay away from me.”
The two things Jian Qing hates most in life are: liking someone, and love.
Until he meets He Linfeng, and realizes that some feelings can burn so intensely they ignore all rejection and defy all predetermined settings — yet remain as steady as mountains, firmly telling him:
—Even in a fictional world where truth and illusion are hard to distinguish,
even if one day the protagonist loses his ‘crowd-favorite’ halo,
he is still precious.
