Do you know what it feels like to be betrayed by a fellow Holy Knight and left stranded in a forest infested with monsters?

And if, on top of that, you were to encounter a woman bearing crimson eyes, the unmistakable mark of a demon, there would be nothing more to say.

Naturally, he thought his life was over.

But to his surprise, this strange demon introduced herself as “Irene,” claiming to be from a neighboring country, and behaved in a friendly manner.

In that moment, he understood.

If he wanted to survive, he would have to go along with her pretense of being human.

After all, there was no way for him, a mere human, to escape the forest cabin surrounded by monsters on his own.

And so began a precarious cohabitation in the forest, one forced upon him without any real choice.

Her moods shifted on a whim, and the killing intent she sometimes pressed upon him felt inhuman.

Yet when he saw her surprisingly innocent side and her bright smile, an irreverent doubt could not help but surface.

Was the woman before him, this “Irene,” really a demon?
