Picking Up a Kitten, Even Though You’re a Kitten Yourself

Shizuru was lonely.

She had drifted apart from the girl she thought was her best friend after they were placed in different classes. Poor at asserting herself, Shizuru was anxious about whether she could manage in her new class.

Amidst all this, Shizuru finds herself wandering to the secret base she had built with her former best friend.

What she encounters there is an abandoned kitten.

Shizuru wants to take the kitten in, but living in an apartment makes that difficult for her. That is when her classmate, Furumiya Rakka, appears. Rakka occupies a mysterious position in the class and possesses a nature entirely opposite to Shizuru’s. Rakka tells her, “I don’t mind keeping the cat at my house,” and invites both the kitten and Shizuru into her home.

The two make a promise to raise the kitten, whom they name Kinako, together. Alongside Kinako’s growth, Shizuru learns of the scars Rakka carries in her heart. And also of the pain born from forming connections with others.

This is an endearing yuri tale woven together by three abandoned kittens.
