Han-gyeol just barged into Yoo Ji-eun’s hellish teenage life one day.

With his natural easygoing charm, he quickly got everyone who used to bully Ji-eun to side with him. Ji-eun felt jealous and envious, but she couldn’t refuse the shining Han-gyeol in the end, and she quickly fell for him. However, that feeling couldn’t blossom because of a scheme by her older brother, Yoo Ji-ho. Ji-eun had no choice but to hurt Han-gyeol and push him strongly away, just like her brother demanded.

When they met again later on, Han-gyeol had become hugely successful in a higher social circle than Ji-eun.

“Have you been well?”

“…As you can see.”

I mumbled my answer.

What could I even say? I had imagined what it would be like to meet Han-gyeol again someday. Should I apologize and say I was sorry? That I was too young and didn’t know how to handle the situation? I wanted to beg for forgiveness for hurting you in the cruelest way possible.

But Han-gyeol standing in front of me now is so clean-cut and confident, with no trace of a wound. Deep down, I felt a sense of relief, and I scoffed at the younger Yoo Ji-eun who had desperately lashed out with sharp words just to engrave her existence onto him.

“…Um, back then, I…”

“See you around. I actually need to use the restroom.”

Han-gyeol cut my words off completely. I quietly shut my mouth. He doesn’t want to hear it. This was one of the many scenarios I had expected. I accepted it without a fuss. Trying to force forgiveness would be ridiculous hypocrisy.

“Right. See you again then.”

I repeated the meaningless words, offering a formal smile.
