Like Love Instead of (Final Version)

He had always been the cruel party in this relationship.

For ten years, that person stood before him and said he loved him, but he never even bothered to look.

He always assumed they had enough time. After already spending ten years together, dragging it out meant they would probably last a lifetime.

He knew the other person’s obsession was too deep. The idea of letting go was simply laughable.

But when that person finally did let go, the long awaited freedom tasted less sweet than he had imagined.

or a benevolent oversight? Was the obsession too heavy,

or the resentment too deep?

By the time his initial reluctance morphed into silence,

his heartbreak became numbness,

his feelings of being wronged turned into self mockery,

and his jealousy evolved into surrender and submission,
