Tinder Box

Inspired by “The Tinder Box” by Hans Christian Andersen.

Isaac, a half-witch born from a witch and a human. Because he is not a pureblood witch, he cannot go to the Land of the Dark Moon, where witches fled from human oppression, and he lives modestly in the human world, hiding that he is a witch.

And in the royal palace where Isaac works as a guard, there is Prince Kaian, who is outstanding in appearance and ability but has a very nasty temper. He is one of the royals of this country who suffers terrible pain on the new moon due to a witch’s curse, but unlike other royals, he does not seek the help of a wizard to alleviate the pain, enduring hellish pain every month and hating witches to the bone.

Isaac, who is living a relatively peaceful life while guarding the prince’s palace, where he is eager to catch witches, is one day visited by three brazen cats who steal his precious food and hand him a flint as a reward. And what appeared before Isaac, who struck the flint, were three large tigers. They demand that Isaac bring them the flint box in the king’s treasury, and in return, they offer to grant him three wishes every new moon night, when the witch’s power is strongest.

Thinking it was a dream, Isaac said, ‘A night with the greatest beauty in this country,’ and the tiger brought him Prince Kaian, who was suffering from extreme pain because it was the dark moon…
