Please Die, Your Highness

Synopsis
The kingdom of Lutea was founded by the last dragon of the mortal realm.
Prince Declan, the second son, was born with a dragon’s scale—a proof that he had inherited the bloodline of the first king. Blessed with an extraordinary birth, and graced with noble and beautiful features, he grew up like a flower in a greenhouse, basking in the admiration and reverence of all.
But one day, the dragon’s scale that had once made him shine so brilliantly brought upon him an illness so painful it drove him to the brink of death. No medicine could ease his suffering, and as Declan slowly withered away, his elder brother Aidan could no longer bear to watch. He told him of the witch in the west.
“Seek out the witch, Declan.”
“You must go yourself, Declan. The mages say that witch never leaves her forest.”
And so, with the help of the young ruler Aidan, Prince Declan prepared for his journey. Yet when the day of departure came, the companions his brother had gathered for him turned out to be nothing but a group of dubious, nameless vagabonds.
As if fulfilling his grim expectations, the few companions soon fell away one by one, until Declan realized that he would likely die here in a foreign land, never to return to the castle.
“If I do not wake up tomorrow morning, quietly take care of my body.”

“There’s no such thing as a ‘why,’ Maeve. I was simply there at that moment, and since I could save you, I did.”
Was it truly right to let the prince die, just because that was the so-called law of nature? After much thought, the maid Maeve decided to try saving him—just as someone had once saved her.
If she had to name the reason her heart was moved, it was merely pity and compassion.
Yet at some point, this pitiful and pathetic man began to wedge himself into her heart so deeply that it became unpleasant.
“I went through all that trouble to save you, and this is what you do? If you’re going to be like this, you should’ve just died by my hand.”
“…I—I’m sorry.”
