Synopsis
Ming Xi felt that her life perfectly matched Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
When she only had a few coins in her pocket, all she thought about was getting enough to eat.
When she had a few hundred, she learned about love and sharing.
When she had tens of thousands, she started thinking about how to use money to make more money.

When everything was satisfied—no, over-satisfied—Ming Xi decided she wanted a child. After evaluating the quality of the men around her, she finally chose to go after someone she already knew.
The man sat across from her, patiently listening to everything she said. His eyes flickered, his smile was captivating. After a pause, he asked humbly, gently, “Why… did you think of me?”
Ming Xi: “You’re well-educated, good-looking, and you’ve got the best genes!”
The man chuckled: “…That’s it?”
Ming Xi propped her chin up shamelessly and added, “And you’re rich, so you won’t scam me out of money.”
The man shook his head with a smile, his attitude unreadable.
Nervous at heart, Ming Xi pressed forward: “Everything I said before was fake, just nonsense. The real reason—the only reason—is that out of all the men around me, I only have feelings for you—”
“Oh?”
Leaning back in his chair, his gaze fixed steadily on her, as if torn between doubt and belief.
Ming Xi seized the chance, sliding her hand into his, her lashes trembling slightly as she pressed her palm to the back of his hand, her tone carrying a trace of intimacy: “That kind of thing… without real feelings, it’s impossible to do, right?”
The man didn’t pull away. Instead, he turned the tables, clasped her hand tightly, met her eyes, and dropped a single word with deliberate weight:
“Yes.”
